Westlake 2008 Announcement

Season 13 of the Tuesday Night Training Series in Westlake will take place 4-8-08 thru 9-30-08. There are 26 total evenings scheduled.
Dates and approximate durations are:
- April 8, 15, 22, 29 (1.0 – 1.25 hrs)
- May 6, 13, 20, 27 (1.25 – 1.75 hrs)
- June 3, 10, 17, 24 (1.75 – 2.0 hrs)
- July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 (2.0 – 1.75 hrs)
- August 5, 12, 19, 26 (1.75 – 1.25 hrs)
- September 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 (1.25 – 1.0 hrs)
Format will be similar to that of the 2007 season. Please see information below for directions, course, registration, prizes, and rules.
REMINDERS / CHANGES FOR THE 2008 SEASON:
The restrooms at Roman Park have been requested to be available starting 4/8/08, however, availability will be dependant on weather….. plan accordingly.
Westlake Engineering Dept. reports no road projects scheduled in the area for 2008.
Please respectfully use the Board of Education Transportation Parking Lot. Absolutely no littering, smoking, or alcohol permitted. Please minimize loitering in the parking lot after completion of the races.
Entry $12.00 cash, exact amount, small bills appreciated. SORRY, I CANNOT ACCEPT CHECKS.
There will be no overall cash prizes for 2008. All available prize money will be awarded for the race date it is collected, based on turnout. Participants will still be awarded points accumulating toward overall series ranking.
(1) point will be awarded for all racers, for each week of participation, and applied to overall point totals. You MUST RACE to be awarded a PARTICPATION POINT.
No start line entries. Unregistered entrants may not participate in the race. Sorry, no exceptions.
All weekly cash / merchandise prizes must be collected by participants at the conclusion of the event. If you cannot wait to collect your prize, please designate someone to collect it for you. Any unclaimed weekly prizes will be donated to the general race fund. Sorry, no exceptions.
Participants must complete a 2008 release form prior to racing. Previous season forms are invalid. Release forms are color coded. "A" = Gold, "B" = Pink. After initial completion, participants will retrieve their form from the file, initial the date of participation, and submit with entry money when completing the similarly color coded weekly sign-in sheet.
Under 18 years of age must have parental consent PRIOR to racing.
Races take place “rain or shine” except in cases of severe weather.

DIRECTIONS: I-90 to the Crocker Rd. exit (#156). Travel North on Crocker Rd to Clemens Rd. and turn right. Continue 1/3 mi. East on Clemens Rd. to Bassett Rd. and turn left. Continue North to Westlake Board of Education Service Building, 1097 Bassett Rd. (on the right). Parking, registration, and staging located in the parking lot to the left of the main drive. Restrooms located in Roman Park on Ranney Parkway.
COURSE: Completely flat 2 mile loop, located primarily in a suburban office park. Fields will stage in the lot at 1097 Bassett Rd. Neutral start from Staging to S/F located on Clemens Rd. Course proceeds right onto Bassett Rd., right onto Ranney Parkway, right onto Clemens Rd back to S/F. Distances increase through June, then decrease through September. Organizer reserves the right to adjust distance to ensure safe finish.
REGISTRATION: No advance entry, 5:45-6:20 p.m. day of event only. This race is a non-sanctioned event. No license, membership, club, or team affiliation required. Prior to racing, participants must: Complete the annual liability release for each field entered (once per season). NOTE: If you race in the A field, complete the GOLD form. If you race in the B field, complete the PINK form. If you move back/forth between fields, you must complete the proper color form for the field you are racing that week.

Complete the sign-in sheet (each week). NOTE: Please PRINT LEGIBLY, this sheet is used to score/judge the race.
Pay entry in full (each week) No start line entries. Unregistered entrants may not participate in the race. Minimum 5 entrants per field. Women / Juniors / Masters may race in either field. Organizer reserves the right to combine or create fields.
PRIZES: Weekly cash prizes based on turnout. Points awarded for places; 10-8-6-4-2 in the "A" race, and 10-8-6 in the "B" race. 1 point will be awarded for participation each week. Point, or merchandise primes may also be offered. Organizer reserves the right to adjust prizes.
RULES: Organizer reserves the right to disqualify participants for any event rule infraction. Disqualified participants must exit the race course immediately and may not complete the race. The course is open to traffic and the centerline rule is in effect at all times. Overtaking of traffic under any circumstance is prohibited, regardless of your position in the race. Fields will proceed neutral from staging to start line on initial lap. No free laps, wheel pit, or feed zone. Lapped riders are encouraged to rejoin the main field, however, they must remain at the back and cannot participate in primes or the finish, nor ride in a manner that affects the outcome of the race. No pacing from motorized vehicles permitted. A slower field must ride single file and stay to the right when overtaken by a faster field. No mixing of fields. Participants are permitted to change fields mid-race, however, they forfeit their status in both fields and must abide by the lapped rider rules. Final lap is designated by "1" on lap card and ringing bell. Riders must maintain their line in the final 200m of the race. Organizer reserves the right to adjust race duration to ensure safety of riders. Approved helmets must be secured at all times on the bike. No radios, media players, headphones, audio receivers or transmitters of any kind permitted. No aero bars permitted.
